Thursday, 8/21 Scotia Prince |
It's nothing to write home about. They have captive lodgers here. If you are going to spend the amount of cabin time we do, it's worth the upgrade. "Sleeps 4" sleeps two people comfortably. One bunk converts to a sofa giving you a bit of floor space to get to the end table. Dave found the top bunk a fun roost. The drone from the main engine was finally gotten used to and served as white noise, blocking out guests comings and goings. Shower /towels provided. Pricey($90.00/U.S.) but no alternative. |
Friday, 8/22 Delta Barrington 1875 Barrington St. Halifax NS B3J3L6 (902)429-7410 |
A dependably good. The room phone has a "data" jack built in - a big plus. Good location in the heart of downtown. This is a great place for us to setup camp. |
Sunday, 8/24 Liscombe Lodge Liscomb Mills NS BOJ A20 (800) 665-6343 |
A real resort - we enjoyed the spa, sauna and pool after a days drive. Comfortable rooms. A Good place to stay for families lots of daytime activities on the grounds and plenty of local day trip possibilities. This is the first provincial resort we have stayed in - we found the food disappointing. |
Monday, 8/25 Whale's Tail B&B 3 Stirling Street Canso NS B0H 1H0 (902) 366-2271 email: bb@proton.com |
This is a house B&B, upstairs has been converted into 4 clean comfortable rooms with shared bath. The owners' interests include painting, Elvis and of course whales. We found this combination irresistible. |
Tuesday, 8/26 Seawind Landing Country Inn #1 Wharf Rd. Charlos Cove NS B0H 1T0 (800) 563-4667 email: jcolvin@auracom.com |
The Seawind Landing is fast becoming one of our favorite destinations in Nova Scotia. Jim and Lorraine have a winning combination for us: quiet location, good food, comfortable rooms - a great place to relax and explore. Jim has a way of making everyone feel like a visiting friend. |
Wednesday, 8/27 Glenora Inn & Distillery Rt. 19, Glenville between Inverness and Mabou |
Building a world class distillery, like making Good whiskey takes time. Glenora is off to a promising start. The inn, bar & restaurant and distillery buildings are arranged in a relaxing compound spanning a stream bed, with chalets high on the hill above. Live musical entertainment is provided in the bar/pub adjoining the dining room. The first 10 year old whiskey will be ready in the year 2000 - but don't wait until then to stop by! |
Thursday, 8/28 - Saturday, 8/30 Normaway Inn Box 123, Margaree Valley, Cape Breton B0E 2C0 (902)248-2987 email: nomaway@atcon.com |
Top notch accomadations in a 1920's resort lodge. Stone fireplaces, puzzles books, an execlent dining room. An established Inn that has survived buy pleasing it's guests for the last 60 years. We will be back. |
Sunday, 8/31 Gillespie House Inn 358 Main Street, Parrsboro, B0M 1S0 (902) 254-3196 |
Very comfortable rooms in a large historic house. Plenty of bathrooms and showers but only one with a sink! |
Monday, 9/1 - Tuesday, 9/2 Farmhouse Inn PO Box 38 Canning, B0P 1H0 (902)582-7900 email: farmhous@ns.sympatico.ca |
Quiet village house, a cross between a bed & breakfast and an Inn. Each well appointed room has it's own bathroom and a locking door. Extras that make the stay enjoyable included a coffee tray at the door every morning and afternoon teas. The location of Canning, halfway between Wolfville and the Bay of Fundy and the excellent service make the Farmhouse Inn a good "home base" for this area. |
