Photo of the Day for July 5
Wearing A Skirt
Dave suits up for an afternoon of kayaking. The "skirt" keeps
water out of the kayak. Every beginner is pretty drippy when
it comes to paddling.

Bright Eyed Nancy
Guess where she's from?. Our Radisson Hotel breakfasts
were served up with Cape Breton hospitality. Gave us an
address to a website with some great hikes for next year.
She'll probably hate the photo but give this college student
a raise...She's the only staff we had any real contact with.

Preparation
Packs go into a chamber in the front or back of the main
compartment. Mary Laird oversees the details while Joe,
our guide sets us into the water.

Narrow Cove Passage
Got a little behind trying to get this shot. The group
is about to paddle through a tiny channel between islands.
You could just about jump across one wharf to the
opposite side. Now this is part of Nova Scotia not everyone sees.
Quaint is good. G

Joe to the Rescue
The wind got a hold of Miss Blue Kayak and she drifted
off course. Joe was there in no time and assisted her
in paddling against some strong wind. He also placed a
sandbag in the front compartment to help stabilize the kayak.

Taking a Break at Round Island.
Eat, drink, rest awhile. Joe told us the history of this
little island and found us some edible plants. Delicious!
Dave and I spotted another food fest; mackeral feeding on
baby herring. Lively. Soon it was time to turn around and
get to a real shore. Sleeping well tonight!

Joe Offers Sea Lettuce
Ample samples of a new green found at the shoreline.
It is being offered in some markets, fresh is best.
Just a little salty.

In With the Tide
We are all tired, hungry and happy. Most of us were
beginners on this expedition. dave chows down of those
sea greens. Time to change into some dry clothes and
think about dinner.
Thanks Crescent Sea Kayak for a fun afternoon.

Have Banana Will Travel
After a physical workout and not much food we are just a bit
worn out, better turn off the grumpies with some glucose.

That's Different
Even without a top it is still taller than the trees.
All by itself on the South Shore near Drews Hill.

Beautiful Meresy River at Meresy River Chalets
We had reservations here for the night but changed them
because we were in need of a bit more pampering. This place
looked great but they had just booked the last lodge and
I had booked a tipi! We think we'll return another year and
stay here.

Swoon
We found a place to stay just in time. Our innkeeper made
dinner reservation. Our last night is going to be sooooooo
fine.

From Tipi to Queen Ann
Now that's a change of heart. Never would have guessed we'd end up
back in Annapolis Royal. But we did, what luck Sunday is a slow
night for guests. This is quite the place. Enormous doors.

Last Supper
Good wine list, great fish and quite inexpensive.
Dave considered having another serving of the grilled salmon.
One of best meals we've had. We'll be back to the
White Raven in Granville Ferry, we promise.
